Lehigh Carbon Community College

LCCC 学生s may apply to withdraw from courses for medical or mental health reasons.  Failure to officially withdraw may result in the recording of failing grades.  Students seeking to withdraw due to medical or mental health reasons must withdraw from all registered courses.  There are rare occasions when it is appropriate for 学生s to receive a medical withdrawal for one or two courses (ex. a physical injury that prevents the individual from participating in a course that requires physical activity.)  Such exceptions will be considered on an individual basis.

*尽可能, 学生s are encour年龄d to consider seeking incomplete grades instead of withdrawing and losing the semester’s work.   Students who wish to pursue this avenue must notify the course instructor to discuss remaining requirements and seek approval.  (见 Incomplete Grade policy).

In order for a Medical/Mental Health Withdrawal Request to be considered for a given semester, all required documents must be completed in full, signed and submitted at any time prior to the start of final examinations week.

All approved requests will result in the assignment of “W” grades for each course on the 学生’s academic transcript.  There is no fee for this service.  Please note that “W” grades will not be assigned if this request process is not completed prior to the start of final examinations week. In such cases, final grades will be assigned by the instructor(s).

There will be no refund for medical/mental health withdrawals requested after the college refund deadlines. If the withdrawal is due to a sudden medical/mental health emergency and the 学生’s account is paid in full, tuition credit (for the up-coming semester) may be considered. Students remain fully responsible for College fees, any outstanding fines and repayment of financial aid as mandated by the Federal Government.

It is important to note that 美国.S. Department of Education does not differentiate between a ‘Medical/Mental Health Withdrawal’ and a regular course withdrawal (W grade).  If a 学生 who has received financial aid, withdraws from courses (for health reasons or not) before completing  60% of the semester, 美国.S. Department of Education requires the College financial aid office to re-calculate the 学生’s award  based on the 学生’s last date of attendance, to determine what amount of financial aid must be returned to the Federal Government.  Under these circumstances, the 学生 will be required to return funds for which they are no longer eligible by the government’s regulations.  (见 Withdrawal Policy for Students Receiving 金融援助).

Students who withdraw due to medical/mental health reasons will be required to satisfy conditions of medical clearance prior to re-entry. When you have the completed re-entry documentation, please drop it off at the Counseling Center located in the 学生服务 Center room 126, 通过电子邮件发送给我们 counselingcenter@pafcoaching.com, or fax it to us at 610 769-1324.
